There are 31 recognised gundog clubs throughout New Zealand, distributed from Invercargill to Whangarei.. Most clubs hold at least one Championship trial annually and club trials/training days regularly throughout the year. At club level, “minor” trials are held for puppy, novice, limit and open dogs. These trials do not carry challenge points and thus wins in these events do not count towards titles. Any breed (or cross-breed) of dog may attend and compete in minor trials, but only an NZKC registered gundog can compete in championship trials.
