The executive are working towards introducing a graded training scheme that will help to prepare a dog for competition and will mesh in with the existing minor competition classes.
There will be (3) levels for the Handler and dog to progress through.
The training and assessments will cover the three classes of dogs (retrievers, spaniels, and the Hunt, Point, Retrieve (HPR) breeds) and will be tailored to their needs
At each level handlers and dogs will have the opportunity to be independently assessed by approved Assessors and if they are deemed to have met the standard for that level they will be awarded an achievement title that can be appended to their pedigree, much the same as for dogs achieving a QC now.
It is the hope of the executive that reward of the achievement title will encourage people to take part in the training, attract and expose a wide range of people to our sport and that some will be bitten by the gun dog trialing bug and go on to become regular competitors and club members.
Running training courses will also provide clubs with the opportunity to raise funds.
