GFTCh Hurleyhall Viking (Imp UK)
Hurley was born on 6th April 2004, bred by Mrs A Prosser in the UK. He arrived in Christchurch, NZ in July 2004 and immediately announced his arrival, winning puppy and novice trials within weeks.
In October 2004 Hurley won the NI Puppy event. His time in the minor classes was very short lived as Hurley won his first challenge with a win in the CKA Retriever event in March 2005, aged 11 months.
Hurley came second in the 2006 NZ Retriever and attained his FTCh title shortly afterwards on the 5th November 2006.
This was followed by wins in the NZ Retriever in 2007 and 2008.
He attained his GFTCh title on 7th September 2008, aged 4 years.
Hurley also had success at Island championships, at the 2009 NI champs he was placed second in the All Breeds and won the Retriever.
Hurley gained his 50th challenge point on 26th October 2014 with a second placing at the NZ Championship Retriever event held at Horowhenua. Tony had a close friendship with the association's past president, Bruce Brady, so it was especially special that Hurley won the Bruce Brady Memorial Trophy on three occasions in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
On top of all of these achievements, Tony and Hurley competed successfully at the Queensland State Championship in 2007, being awarded the Judges Award of Merit for the best retrieve of the event.
Tony and Hurley are very worthy recipients of this honour. To the best of our collective memories, all of Hurley’s wins were in the Retriever event
