The NZGTA executive want to communicate better with our membership - you can help by registering your details below
From the President At present the Executive have no idea who our members are, what clubs they belong to, how many members belong to each club, what dogs they have, what events they compete in or how to contact them if required. We also don’t know what parts of our sport are growing and what parts are in decline. It is hard for a leadership team to plan our future, write budgets and understand who our membership is when we don’t have basic information on our membership. I have also had a lot of comment from members that they don’t receive information such as schedules or Executive updates. So the aim is threefold. Firstly gather data on our members so we can make better decisions on our sports future. Secondly move towards the Executive being able to communicate with the membership directly when necessary. The way DogsNZ are communicating with their membership is a great example. Some things need to go through a club secretary, others don’t. Thirdly reduce workload for our club and national secretaries and reduce the large amount of email traffic. The new way of publication of schedules on the website is a good example of this. Right now we don’t have a database at all. I was recently asked a question by the Secretary of Dogs NZ about our membership and I could not answer it as we don’t have even basic data.
We want to change that and have our own data base of club members so that we can better understand participation in our sport and also communicate better when we need to.
