Achievement Titles



Gun Dog  Titles :

Titles are appended to the Dogs pedigree name by the NZKC.

Suffix FTBB (Field Trial Beginner Bronze) on being assessed to have achieved Grade 1 of the Junior Gun Dog Training Scheme

Suffix FTBS (Field Trial Beginner Silver) on being assessed to have achieved Grade 2 of the Junior Gun Dog Training Scheme

Suffix FTBG (Field Trial Beginner Gold) on being assessed to have achieved Grade 3 of the Junior Gun Dog Training Scheme

Suffix FTN (Field Trial Novice) and FN (Field Novice) This will be awarded when dogs have won out of novice class

Suffix QC (Qualifying Certificate) may be awarded to a dog which has proved to an Approved or Star judge in trial conditions that it will hunt, find and handle game as is expected of its breed and that it is not gun shy.

Suffix FTN adv. (Field Trial Novice Advanced) This will be awarded when a dog wins out of present limit class and becomes an open dog.

Prefix FTW and FW (Field Trial Winner and Field Winner) Awarded to any dog that has won a challenge in field or field trial events.

Prefix FTCh (Field Trial Champion) is a gun dog which has won six field trial challenges.

Prefix FCh (Field Champion) is a dog which has won at least two challenges in Natural Game trials (as opposed to simulated trials on released birds).

Prefix GFTCh (Grand Field Trial Champion) has won 20 challenge points.

Prefix GFCh (Grand Field Champion) has won 8 Natural Game Challenge points.

Field trial titles can be awarded only to purebred, registered gun dogs.  A challenge point is awarded to the winner of a Championship trial if the performance is of sufficient merit. Winners of National Championships and Island Championships may win multiple challenge points.
